Strong Bite for Redfish and Speckled Trout
Port Isabel Channel - Cameron, TX
Inshore fishing in Port Isabel, Texas has been producing consistent action, with Redfish and Speckled Trout being the top catches this week. Anglers are finding good numbers of slot-sized Redfish cruising the grass flats during early morning tides, especially around the spoil islands and deeper channels near the Laguna Madre. Soft plastics and live shrimp under popping corks have been the go-to rigs for both Redfish and Trout.
Speckled Trout are schooling near drop-offs and sandy potholes, particularly in slightly cooler morning hours. Look for bait movement and cast just outside the slicks for the best chance at a strike. Flounder are also beginning to show up along the edges of the channels and around structure, hitting slow-rolled soft baits on the bottom.
Weather conditions have been stable with light winds and clear water, making sight casting productive. As temperatures continue to rise, early starts and targeting shaded areas or moving water will be key to staying on the bite. The fishing outlook for the coming week remains strong, especially for anglers focusing on dawn and dusk windows.
